Simple Data and Workflow Management with the signac Framework
Carl S. Adorf, Paul M. Dodd, Vyas Ramasubramani, Sharon C. Glotzer
Journal of Computational Materials Science 146, 220-229 (2018).

The article highlights the open-source project’s main design philosophy, provides a little more background information on the implementation, and features some minimal examples on how to use signac and signac-flow. A rigorous performance benchmark demonstrates signac’s ability to handle even large data space sizes.
